Marcello was born and raised in Modena, Italy. A city located in the Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy, Modena is famously known for being the home of Lambrusco and Italy’s most acclaimed restaurant, Osteria Francescana, which holds 3 Michelin stars and has been named the best restaurant in the world. Passionate about food, Marcello was a food lover long before he was a wine lover. As his interest in food developed, he realised that wine was important to the enjoyment and pleasure of dining and made the perfect accompaniment to enhance the overall gastronomic experience.
After receiving a degree in Business Administration from the University of Modena, Marcello went on to receive his Diploma as a Sommelier from the Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS). Since 2011, Marcello has been a highly sought after wine export manager and wine sales manager having attended over 50 international wine fairs and encountered more than 300 wine importers in the Asia Pacific region alone. His distinct experience and valuable market understanding led him to establish EMAFB as an export house to help international wineries develop and expand their market share in Asia.
